Experience
I graduated from Northwestern State University of Louisiana with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. I then enrolled into Louisiana Tech University, where I completed a postgraduate degree. Upon graduating, I started working as a disability examiner. It was not until I spoke to one of my friends, who worked in education, that I decided to change my career path. I have been teaching for seven years, working with mostly children.I started my teaching career in special education, where I because certified to teach elementary to high school students. I have experience teaching special education to kindergarteners, young elementary students, and ninth graders. I also taught remedial math to high school students.In addition to math, I have experience tutoring elementary students in reading and writing. I am able to assist in a number of areas, such as STAAR, COMPASS reading, ISEE, and SAT preparation. Additionally, I am able to help students improve their phonics, reading, writing, and English skills.My teaching philosophy is to work hard to inspire young learners. I want my students to understand that education is a lifelong process. As we teach, we also learn. I work to understand the wants and needs of each student, so that I am able to teach in a way that appeals to his or her learning styles.
